Technique-of-the-Month Club Fabric Embellishments and Quilting Arts
If you have ever thought of embellishing your quilts or testing a new art quilt technique,
this club is for you! Our goal is to show you a new technique each month, giving you the opportunity to play with the supplies
in the store for a few hours as you create your own personal reference workbook of techniques through the coming months. At
each meeting, you will try out a technique, see what worked well (or didn't) and, you will go home with creative ideas you
can apply to your quilts, crafts, clothing, home dec, and whatever else you may want to try.
As a club member, you can help determine what we will cover, but our primary resource
includes over 50 embellishments and manipulation techniques to explore. In our first meetings, you will play with Paintstiks,
textures (including rubber stamps and rubbing plates) and stencils, learning how to use them in creative ways. In future meetings,
we plan on weaving fabrics, stitching on metal, dying our own backgrounds, transferring images, making bargello fabric to
cut as block pieces, etc. We have an awesome book as a resource and inspiration and can't wait to see where this all takes
us. If you have other craft tools and supplies, we will work
on putting those items to work in your quilt projects as well. You tell us what is in your collections (rubber stamps, beads,
foils, fibers, paints, stash, etc.) and we will work on how to put those supplies to good use in new ways. The purchase of one book will be required for this club and most months, we will
utilize at least one or more chapters in it. It is all you ever have to buy. Copies will be available to examine and purchase
at the first meeting. The August meeting has been cancelled due to the flooding. The club meetings will resume in September. Have a safe August! 10:00 am - ? Class fee: $10.00 to reserve your space After the first meeting you attend, if you decide you want to join this club and attend
future meetings, we will ask for your commitment for 3 months at a time with a $30.00 prepayment at the first meeting. For
each month that you attend, you will receive a $10.00 credit toward your purchase of technique materials. In addition, there
will be a 15% discount on all technique materials purchased during the meeting. Club members will also receive a 10% discount
any technique materials purchased on days the club is not meeting. Remember
to bring a notebook and pen or pencil to class!
